Sitting up high in the Easter morning sky, shines the luminous sun, looking just like a sunny side up egg as it floats along behind a pillowy cloud. Its golden rays of light bring with it an awakening to all the little creatures in the life filled pond down below.
Bobbing joyfully along in the sunshine are colorful butterflies and dragonflies...they can be seen dancing in and out of the cattails without a single care. But today they are accompanying Governor Tucker Turtle as she waves her Easter banner high.
Governor Tucker Turtle has been very busy with many important duties. She just finished having a meeting with Mayor Mole and all the top turtles and toads yesterday. There were many concerns to be addressed about the health and welfare of Primrose Pond. One of the main issues on the docket yesterday was Primrose Ponds water quality, because keeping the waters as healthy as possible is of great importance to the pond’s community. Why just the other day Mr. Blue Heron got one of his legs caught on a bicycle tire that someone had tossed into the pond without even a thought as to how it might affect the inhabitants who live there. If it hadn’t been for Old Tom Toad, who’d been out catching his dinner that day, Mr. Blue Heron would have been stuck for hours with that rotting bicycle tire wrapped around his leg. Yes, there is much to do when you’re the Governor.
But today is a time to celebrate! So that’s why Governor Tucker Turtle is dressed up in her Easter best and leading the Easter parade...she has made sure that all the day’s details have been taken care of with E.B. the Easter Bunny. Soon the Primrose Pond Easter Egg Hunt will be on. All the eggs have been hidden and every happy critter can hardly wait to race around the pond filling their Lily baskets with all the brightly colored eggs.
May your Easter be bright and beautiful. And may your family and friends all be healthy and blessed with the gifts of this Easter season….
This piece is dedicated to all the Governors, Mayors, Community Leaders and Essential Workers who do so much for us now and always...no matter how great or small the task may seem...we truly appreciate you!
