Bump! Thunk! Bump!
It must be November! Because I hear the sound of a small walnut wheelbarrow bouncing along Woodland Lane, which I am sure will soon be followed by sweet, soft humming.
Yes...I can hear it. The melodious humming of one of the most adorable tiny fairies to ever find her way through the lavish, golden, harvest fields of the great Fairyland.
Tesia the Harvest Fairy will spend most of her frosty mornings walking about in her sturdy hiking boots, while collecting up glorious fall foods that have fully ripened and are ready for harvesting. She can be seen rolling small colorful autumn gourds on the ground and placing them into half oak barrels, made by herself, from the findings of old, rustic oakwood. She also picks winter squash from their tired, heavy vines and apples of many varieties, like the Pink Lady, Red Delicious, Fuji, Golden Delicious and Gala... which has been rumored to cook up wonderfully for pies, I might add.
Today it seems that Tesia is busy harvesting acorns for the woodland folk and small woodland creatures. Speaking of small creatures...I see that Tip, the mouse, is tucked away in her sweaters pocket and Top, the mouse, is riding in the wheelbarrow of acorns. These furry little friends are always helping Tesia because they love to spend time with her and her sweet, gentle nature.
When the day of harvesting is completed, Tesia will take Tip and Top home with her. Where they all live comfortably inside an old Ash tree that sits among the Oaks and Hawthorn trees of their woodland community. There they will sit on tiny purple toadstool seats at a large red toadstool table, enjoying a nice hot steaming bowl of wonderful winter squash soup that Tesia has made....while basking in the warmth of a small candle’s flame, which has been placed inside of a half shelled walnut, fairy fireplace. In no time, their tummies will swell and the days light will slowly drifted out of sight.
Soon Tip and Top will yawn and rub their sleepy eyes. Tesia will tuck them into little acorn beds filled with soft autumn leaves, kiss their tiny noses and wish them sweet dreams. Then Tesia will cleanup all the dishes from the evening’s meal and later enjoy a cup of hot cider she pressed the day before from some lovely sweet apples that were just right for fairy apple cider.
Not too long after, Tesia’s eyes will become heavy as she watches the small candle in the fairy fireplace dance into her dreams. Wrapping her tiny wings about her, she will snuggle down into a wee, cozy, emerald green moss sofa and softly hum herself off to sleep.
May the Harvest Fairies find you this season and bless your table with their bounty of beautiful gifts. And before you snuggle in for an autumn nights rest...just like Tesia, Tip and Top...remember to turn back your clocks….
